Unit Learning Activity
It is a unit (i.e. single) or cumulative focused task or activity in a specific unit of a module that builds on learning in that unit. It could be individual or group-based (collaborative).
Long Definition: Learning modules comprise of units (and sub-units) and a key concept is introduced in separate but interlinked units through a group or a single task. These common tasks that contribute to a general or deeper understanding of a concept introduced in that unit is a unit learning activity. The outcome of each unit learning activity contributes to the over learning outcome of that particular unit (and therefore to the module outcome)
Deep Dive: This is a term used in learning design. A Unit Learning Activity is a structured task that can be performed individually or in groups that is designed to deepen understanding of a key concept introduced within a specific unit of a learning module.
Modules are composed of multiple interlinked units (and sub-units), each contributing to the overarching module outcome (no matter what pedagogy is used).
Each unit introduces a distinct concept, explored through one or more targeted learning activities.
These numerous activities are intentionally aligned to foster both general comprehension and deeper insight into the unit’s core concept.
The outcome of each Unit Learning Activity directly supports the intended learning outcomes of the unit and cumulatively contributes to the broader learning goals of the module.
